Keller Center’s Innovation Forum Celebrates Humanities Research

October 25, 2024

Humanities faculty presented innovative ideas with impactful potential at the Keller Center’s annual Innovation Forum. The event, which celebrates groundbreaking Princeton research, brought together scholars from engineering, humanities, and social science fields, who pitched their projects to a panel of experts. This year’s forum explored the University’s role in fostering a dynamic innovation ecosystem and what it means to “innovative in the service of humanity.”

First prize in Humanities and Social Science Innovations went to Chesney Snow (Lewis Center for the Arts) for the Performing the Peace initiative. The project, created in collaboration with Janet Vertesi (Sociology), employs storytelling and theatrical techniques, along with advanced technologies, to foster empathy and humanistic approaches within law enforcement training.

The second-place award in Humanities and Social Sciences went to Aaron Landsman (Lewis Center for the Arts). His project, School for Participation, uses tools and techniques from the theater arts to instill joy and creativity into civic engagement, building more robust democracies through strengthening local governments and communities.

The Innovation Forum is hosted by the Keller Center for Innovation in Engineering Education and is co-sponsored by the Humanities Council and the Office of Technology Licensing.
