With the support of a Rapid Response Magic Grant from the Humanities Council, the English Department has released a podcast episode about Nobel Laureate in Literature Toni Morrison (1931–2019), the Humanities Council’s longstanding Robert G. Goheen Professor in the Humanities. Drawing from the David A. Gardner ’69 Magic Fund, Rapid Response Magic Grants bolster humanistic scholarship and community amid social distancing.
The audio production belongs to the Rapid Response Magic Project “Literature in the Time of Covid.” Headed by Rebecca Rainof (English) and Tamsen Wolff (English), this initiative also includes workshops, a literary review, and a site that posts articles for the public by members of the English Department.
In the episode, “Reimagining the Archive,” English major Isabel Griffith-Gorgati ’21 serves as host. She interviews Rene Boatman, who worked with Morrison from 1992–2019, and Autumn Womack, Assistant Professor of English and African American Studies.
