In her April 23, 2026 public lecture, “Walking with Stories,” Long-Term Visitor Rana Barakat (Birzeit University) shared with the audience the methods and findings of her new book, “Ongoing Return: Mapping Memory and Storytelling in Palestine.”

She also explored themes from her Fall 2026 course at Princeton, “Colonialism on Display,” which drew on her methodology of “unsettling museums” developed over the course of her work from 2021 to the end of 2025 as director of the Birzeit University Museum. After the lecture, Julia Elyachar (Anthropology) and Onur Günay (Anthropology) offered insights into the book, posed questions for reflection, and moderated the audience Q&A.

Barakat served as a Belknap Long-Term Visiting Fellow in the Humanities Council and the Department of Anthropology in Spring 2026.
