A historian of early Christianity and a papyrologist, AnneMarie Luijendijk is Chair of the Committee for the Study of Late Antiquity and member of the Executive Committee of the Humanities Council.

As an Old Dominion Professor in the Humanities Council (2015-16) she worked on a new book on scriptures as artifacts, the sociology of reading, and the development of the New Testament canon, provisionally entitled: From Gospels to Garbage: Early Christian Manuscripts as Material Culture. Her previous books are Greetings in the Lord: Early Christians and the Oxyrhynchus Papyri (2008) and Forbidden Oracles? The Gospel of the Lots of Mary (2014).
