Program in African Studies; Tigers for Israel

Ashager Araro is a prominent Ethiopian Israeli antiracism activist who immigrated to Israel from Ethiopia under the Israeli Defense Forces’ Operation Solomon when she was an infant. Araro has served in the IDF, in public diplomacy, and recently established an Ethiopian Heritage center called Bettea. We will hear from Ashager about her background, the history of Jews of Ethiopian descent in Israel, police brutality and structural racism in Israel and the United States, and how we can fight against racism at Princeton and in our own communities.
