Emily Jacir will reflect on her work Where we come from which Edward Said wrote about in his last published piece before his death. She will address questions of community, activism, being an Arab and secularism in relation to Edward Said as well as share personal observations. She will trace explorations on archives, translation and movement in her practice, through a number of her projects, including seminal works and will address some of the crucial questions which inform her approach to unearthing historic material, in depth-research and performative gestures. “The Clock Tower at Jaffa Gate, Sheikh Suleiman Jacir, the Jerusalem-Hebron Road, Dublin Mean Time, G-AAGX Hannibal, and other disappearances” are revealed in her works.
