A 3-day workshop explores how The Gulf Cooperation Council states (Saudi Arabia, Oman, Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait, United Arab Emirates) have since their inception gone through socio-economic and political developments; the political structure and dynamics of these states, including the role of religious and tribal politics; the external powers and oil as sources of authority and legitimacy; the elective institutions and representation mechanisms; as well as of the internal and regional impact of the Arab Spring protest.
