Humanities Council and the Department of Philosophy

Jeff McMahan will be a Whitney J. Oates Visiting Fellow in the Humanities Council and the Department of Philosophy during the fall. He is currently the White’s Professor of Moral Philosophy at the University of Oxford.
Professor McMahan works on a range of moral issues concerned with harming and killing, including the justification and limits of defensive harming, war, abortion, and the killing of animals. He will present three graduate seminars on the topic “Killing and Causing to Exist” on September 18 (6:00pm – 8:00pm), September 19 (4:00pm – 6:00pm), and September 20, 2017 (4:30pm – 6:30pm).
