What is Shariah’s place in American intellectual life? What role can academics and academic institutions play in public discussions of this contentious topic? In this lecture, Dr. Abou El Fadl will offer his analysis, informed by decades of research and teaching on Islamic law, on the past, present, and future of the study of Shariah in America. A reception with light refreshments will follow the lecture.
