Interdisciplinary Doctoral Program in the Humanities

Please join IHUM for our annual Faber Lecture on Thursday, April 9, 2026.

Artist and musician Paul Purgas speaks about his diverse output spanning the fields of sound, visual art and historical research, examining the through lines and trajectories of art and media and the transcultural exchanges between India and the West that underpinned the pluralistic evolution of Modernism. Discussing his work within exhibitions, performance, writing, curating and broadcasting, the talk reflects on his interdisciplinary approach to exploring forgotten narratives and his commitment to connect the overlooked visions of the past with dialogues of the present, enacted through both archival research and artistic practice.

Reception to follow the lecture.

Supported by the Eberhard L. Faber 1915 Memorial Fund in the Humanities Council.
