Art historians and scientists explore how art can decipher fleeting natural events and defy the limits of vision, in conjunction with the exhibition Transient Effects: The Solar Eclipses and Celestial Landscapes of Howard Russell Butler. Speakers include Rachael DeLue, Art and Archaeology; Joshua Winn, Astrophysics; Richard Woo, California Institute of Technology; and Rolf Sinclair, Centro de Estudios Científicos, Chile, and University of Maryland. A reception in the Museum will follow.
