Program in Translation and Intercultural Communication
Join us for a poetry translation workshop where we’ll examine and reflect on the importance of considering subtext, shifts, and ambiguity when translating a poem. Yilin Wang will share translations of several Chinese poems to invite attendees to reflect on the choices made by translators, and give a behind-the-scenes look at her process for poetry translation. The workshop will engage participants in discussions about the different ways in which translators can convey the emotional arc of a poem. In conversation with Daisy Rockwell, PTIC Spring 2024 Translator in Residence.
