Becky Schulthies is Associate Professor of Anthropology at Rutgers University. Her research interests involve ethnographically informed analysis of semiotic ideologies related to language, media, messaging, personhood, social movements, and plant-human sociality in Morocco. Publications include two books, Channeling Moroccanness: Language and the Media of Sociality with Fordham University Press, and the co-edited collection of ethnographic articles entitled Everyday Life in the Muslim Middle East, 3rd edition with Indiana University Press; as well as journal articles in Language and Communication, Ethnos, Hesperis-Tamuda, Anthropology Today, and Al-‘Arabiyya.
