Program in Archaeology; Archaeological Institute of America (AIA)

The practice of “magic” was alive and well in Classical antiquity, from the heart of ancient Athens to the northern shores of the Black Sea to the military camps of Roman Britain. This talk explores ancient magic in the Greek and Roman Mediterranean, focusing in particular on the objects used in the practice of these rituals, in addition to their archaeological contexts.
