Program in Gender and Sexuality Studies

The Program in Gender and Sexuality Studies invites you to join us for a staged reading of Lawrence in Lahore: The Lost Years.

This decolonial spy thriller for our times revolves around T.E. Lawrence’s mysterious role in the Great Game played out in South Asia: Afghanistan/Pakistan/India/Kashmir–in the years following World War 1, after he played a paramount role in the collapse of the Ottoman Empire, leading to the creation of Saudi Arabia and other modern Arab states like Iraq and Jordan, and of course, Israel/Palestine.

The dramatic reading will be performed by students of Professor Afzal-Khan’s course, GSS 206: Spies of Empire/Empire of Spies.

The performance will be followed with a discussion with writers Fawzia Afzal-Khan and Shahid Nadeem, and a moderator to be announced soon.
