This talk will look at Turkey’s ruling AKP’s “revolution in slow motion” and recent political developments in that country, analyzing the ruling party’s complex and dynamic relationship with political Islam, both domestically and internationally. Drawing on a vast array of sources, personal experience and fieldwork research, Soli Özel, a leading observer of Turkey’s politics, will offer his original insights on the country’s present and future trajectory.
