The Department of French & Italian will be holding its 8th annual graduate conference on March 29 in East Pyne 010. The theme is “(Das) Unheimliche ”, and we will explore questions of strangeness, liminality, alterity and deterritorialization in the context of literature through literary, historical, psychoanalytic, and intersectional approaches. Please note that the majority of the presentations will be in French.

Our keynote speakers are Shanna Jean-Baptiste, a professor from Rutgers University specializing in African and Haitian literature and Afrofuturism, and Richard Dumy from the Conservatoire National Supérieur d’Art Dramatique, who works on gender and theater.
