Brent Hayes Edwards is the Peng Family Professor of English and Comparative Literature at Columbia University. He is the editor of the journal PMLA, and the author of books including The Practice of Diaspora: Literature, Translation, and the Rise of Black Internationalism (2003). His translations include Michel Leiris’s Phantom Africa (2017). A 2015 Guggenheim Fellow, Edwards was elected in 2020 to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.
