Adam Frankel ’03, speechwriter for President Obama, joins Stanley N. Katz, distinguished American historian and author, director of the Princeton University Center for Arts and Cultural Policy Studies, and president emeritus of the American Council of Learned Societies, to discuss the fall presidential election results.

Frankel began his career as a writer for John Kerry, but his most important engagement was with Barack Obama, for whom he wrote during the 2008 election campaign and through the first term in the White House. He recently published a memoir of his family history, “The Survivors: A Story of War, Inheritance, and Healing.”

Katz graduated magna cum laude from Harvard University in 1955 with a major in English history and literature. He received a PhD in British and American history in 1961, where he also attended law school in 1969-70. Katz has honorary degrees from several universities and was awarded the National Humanities Medal by President Obama in 2011.
