Queendom (2023), dir. by Agniia Galdanova, Russia.

Gena Marvin is a young queer artist performing in unconventional costumes down the streets of Moscow. Her surreal and disquieting looks bring an element of militant unpredictability to the outdoor spaces of the Russian Federation. As surveillance becomes closer and closer throughout the country, Gena’s activism and artistic behavior will become a threat to her safety, and the artist will be confronted with a choice.
Queendom is Agniia Galdanova’s first feature-length documentary and has already become a classic of Russian queer film.

Presented by the Program in Russian, East European and Eurasian Studies and the Department of Slavic Languages and Literatures. Co-sponsored by the Humanities Council and the Program in Gender and Sexuality Studies. Organized by Sofia Guerra.
