A widely recognized scholar and advocate of LGBTQ issues, Halberstam was recently appointed Professor of English and Comparative Literature at Columbia University. He has published the groundbreaking studies Female Masculinity (Duke, 1998), In A Queer Time and Place (NYU, 2005), The Queer Art of Failure (Duke, 2011) and Gaga Feminism: Sex, Gender, and the End of Normal (Beacon, 2012). His latest book is Trans*: A Quick and Quirky Account of Gender Variability (California, 2017).
