An Extraordinary Time For Journalism In America
Thu, 10/31 · 12:00 pm—1:20 pm · 16 Joseph Henry House
Ron Allen, Visiting Ferris Professor of Journalism, Princeton University
Given how diverse and divided our country is, there’s perhaps never been a more challenging time for journalists to get it right, find the truth, and uphold our responsibilities in our democracy. I’ll discuss how I see the “state of the race” days before Election Day. I’ll talk about how this reminds me so much of 2008 and the historic Obama run for the White House. I covered the Romney, Clinton, and Obama/Biden campaigns. And finally, I’ll talk about how concerned I am about whether there will be a peaceful transfer of power.
For the past few decades, Ron Allen has traveled the country and the world reporting stories of national interest, most recently on the platforms of NBC News. Tera Hunter is the Department Chair of African American Studies & Edwards Professor of American History. She is a scholar of labor, gender, race, and Southern history in the 19th and 20th centuries.
