Katerina Panagopoulou (U. Crete) is a Stanley J. Seeger Visiting Research Fellow in Hellenic Studies. This workshop will explore “Monetary Conventions in Northern Greece (Archaic-Hellenistic),” and how critical Philip II and Alexander III’s initiative to integrate this region gradually into the Attic monetary system was in reshaping local markets and ultimately in assimilating this ‘multiple-mode’ Northern Greek monetary network into the new, nearly ‘globalized,’ Hellenistic economic market.
