This talk will be on America’s recent withdrawal from Afghanistan and its consequences. The speaker, Steve Coll, is a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and one of the most experienced observers of the United States’ involvement in the wars in Afghanistan. He is the author of several prize-winning books on the topic, including Ghost Wars: The Secret History of the CIA, Afghanistan, and Bin Laden, From the Soviet Invasion to September 10, 2001; The Bin Ladens: An Arabian Family in the American Century, and most recently Directorate S: The C.I.A. and America’s Secret Wars in Afghanistan and Pakistan, which is a follow-up to Ghost Wars.
