John the Department of Philosophy for the launch of their 2021 Classical Philosophy Conference. Inthis hybrid event, Hendrik Lorenz (Philosophy) and Benjamin Morison (Philosophy) will interview Alexander Nehamas, the Edmund N. Carpenter II Class of 1943 Professor in the Humanities, Emeritus and Professor of Philosophy and Comparative Literature, Emeritus, about his life and career on the occasion of his retirement.
Nehamas served as Humanities Council Chair from 1994–2002. He was the inaugural recipient of the Edmund N. Carpenter II Class of 1943 Professorship in the Humanities, which he held from 1990 until his retirement in 2021. He also served as Founding Director of the Princeton Society of Fellows in the Liberal Arts from 1999–2002.
