the::sense::archive
the::sense::archive is a collaboration between Monica Huerta and Ava Shirazi. the::sense::archive is not a thing, place, or origin, but a pursuit for a way of working, dreaming, creating, where morphing sensoria take the lead over logic-driven forms of making.
The 2024-2025 sense::archivist series takes the form of four multi-sensory artist-led workshops. each workshop will take place in an environment produced by the artist to activate a specific sensory constellation central to their practice. our hope is that through collective study and collaborative theorizing, we can build a research network of scholars, artists, and practitioners who reimagine how morphing sensoria might take the lead over logic-driven forms of making and thinking. the workshop form will focus our attention on artists and their practice as “sense archivists,” where archiving becomes a pursuit.
the::sense::archive invites you to join our first artist-led workshop for our inaugural sense::archivist Humanities Council Working Group series! Our first event, RESONANCES, is a multi-sensory, participatory workshop led by Philly-based artist Raúl Romero, about mediums, surfaces, and soundscapes. We will be working with materials which Raúl has already been preparing for us.
