Milan, a Serbian student, and Kenan, a Bosniak cellist, live in Yugoslav Sarajevo, where their homosexual relationship unfolds secretly. As the Bosnian war erupts, the two need to find a way to flee the city. They leave together, but Kenan has to adopt a double disguise: to look like a Serb and to look like a woman. The two reach Milan’s village in Eastern Bosnia, where his family hosts them. When Milan is drafted to join the army, however, Kenan will remain alone with the Serbian community of the village and his secret.
Written, directed, and produced by Ahmed Imamović, Go West has won several prizes, including the audience award for the best film at the 2006 Bosnian-Herzegovinian Film Festival in New York.
