Anna Arabindan-Kesson’s research and teaching focus on the art and material culture of the Black diaspora, and communities across the former British empire, coalescing around histories of race, medicine and migration from the 18th century to the present. Her first book Black Bodies, White Gold: Art, Cotton and Commerce in the Atlantic World was published in 2021. A book on 19th century Black Diaspora artists co-written with Professor Mia Bagneris will be published in 2024, and she is completing a second monograph on the entwined histories of art, plantations and colonial medicine.
