Blot Out: Travel Writing as Trespassing

Colleen Kinder will read parts of her essay named “Blot Out,” originally published in Creative Nonfiction and later reprinted in Best American Travel Writing 2013 and Best Women’s Travel Writing 2013, about navigating the thoroughfares of Cairo while veiled under a niqab.
Colleen will then discuss how immersive travel writing can traverse the cross-cultural borders that divide Muslim and Western countries today.
