“Princeton’s Civil War” unfolded as part of the Being Human Festival 2019 of the Humanities Council on Saturday, Nov. 2. Leading Civil War historian Allen Guelzo, Senior Research Scholar in the Humanities Council, and Director of Initiatives on Politics and Statesmanship in the James Madison Program in American Ideals and Institutions, guided 40 townspeople through Princeton’s Civil War connections in the Memorial Atrium of Nassau Hall, on the steps of Whig Hall, and outside the Princeton University Chapel. The tour culminated in a curated visit to Firestone Library Special Collections.
