We will be reading Chapter 2 (“The Roman Translation Project”) from Denis Feeney, Beyond Greek: The Beginnings of Latin Literature (2016); excerpts from Chapter 5 (“Hybridity, the Middle Ground, and the Conundrum of Mixing,” section titled “Aphrodite in the Middle Ground”) in S. Rebecca Martin, The Art of Contact: Comparative Approaches to Greek and Phoenician Art (2017); and Jennifer Larson, Bilingual Inscriptions and Translation in the Ancient Mediterranean World (2011).  Readings can be found here.
