“The Volunteers Fighting Greece’s Intensifying Wildfires,” a feature story by journalism minors Megan Cameron ’26, Annalisa Jenkins ’27, and Maggie Stewart ’28, has been named one of StudentNation’s best articles of the year. The piece was chosen among more than 100 original articles by student journalists, according to a story in The Nation.
The student reporting team wrote and pitched the story on location in Athens, as part of their final project in the journalism summer undergraduate seminar “Shockwaves: Climate, Migration, and Culture in Greece.” Co-taught by professors Eliza Griswold, director of the Program in Journalism, and Rachel Donadio, longtime international correspondent and contributing writer for The Atlantic, the five-week course immerses students in the craft of international reporting.
“Writing this piece with Annalisa and Maggie was one of the most unique and rewarding experiences I’ve had at Princeton,” said Cameron. “It was a true honor to learn about the work of the station volunteers, and our story would not have been possible without their generosity and selflessness.”
StudentNation is a program of the Nation Fund for Independent Journalism and is a platform “dedicated to highlighting the best of student journalism.” It is supported by The Puffin Foundation.
