GRAMMY Award-winning artist Meshell Ndegeocello will bring her new album to life at the Matthews Theatre on Saturday, February 15.
“No More Water: The Gospel of James Baldwin” is a profound musical journey that channels the timeless words of James Baldwin through Ndegeocello’s genre-defying artistry.
A multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, songwriter, and producer, Ndegeocello infuses Baldwin’s exploration of race, sexuality, religion, and identity with her own unique blend of soulful melodies, jazz, funk, and spoken word.
Presented by McCarter Theatre, the event is held in partnership with the Humanities Council, as part of the Baldwin Circles project.
Following the performance, Ndegeocello will be joined by poet and professor Patricia Smith (Lewis Center for the Arts) for an Arts & Ideas conversation. McCarter’s Arts & Ideas, which is co-sponsored by the Council, curates programming that connects University scholarship to artists and experts from the theater’s lineup.
Tickets for the event are on sale now on the McCarter Theatre website.
