Rob Nixon to Deliver 2024 Tanner Lectures at Yale

March 19, 2024

Rob Nixon (English and High Meadows Environmental Institute), will present the Tanner Lectures on Human Values at Yale University on April 3-5, 2024. The lectures, under the general title “Ecology and Equity: Environmental Justice Revisited,” will explore the crossroads of environmental humanities and environmental justice.

Nixon’s scholarly work focuses on literature, environmental justice, and social movements, particularly in the Global South. In 2022-23, he served as an Old Dominion Research Professor in the Humanities Council, where he focused on his most recent book project,  “Blood at the Root: Environmental Martyrs and the Defense of Life.”

The Tanner Lectures, which seek to advance and reflect upon scholarly and scientific thought relating to human values, are presented annually at a select list of universities around the world. The University Center for Human Values hosts these lectures at Princeton.
