This Spring, Rubén Gallo, Professor of Spanish and Portuguese and Muhammad Qasim Zaman, Professor of Religion and Chair of Department of Near Eastern Studies, were among 16 University faculty members elected to two of the nation’s historic learned societies: 12 were among the newest class of members elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, and four were elected to the National Academy of Sciences.
