Council Announces Funding Opportunities for AY2020-21

The Humanities Council invites nominations and applications for visitors and projects in the academic year 2020-2021 and beyond.

OPPORTUNITIES AY2020-21

Conferences & Project Co-sponsorship (faculty proposals)
The Council provides co-sponsorship for humanities-related programs, including conferences, workshops, colloquia, lectures, readings/performances, interdisciplinary courses, and reading groups.
Deadline: Rolling

Graduate Conferences
The Council welcomes project proposals initiated by graduate students which must be presented by a faculty sponsor and endorsed by the department chair.
Deadline for Fall 2020 conferences: September 11
Deadline for Spring 2021 conferences: February 5

Reading & Working Groups
The Council provides funds, connections, and logistical support for faculty, staff, and postdoctoral fellows for humanities-related reading and discussion groups.
Deadline: August 13

Faculty Outreach/Community Based Grants
Funds are available to support public humanities ventures, such as events in collaboration with public institutions.
Deadline: Rolling

Visiting Faculty and Fellows Chair Nominations (Long-Term and Short-Term)
Long-term visiting faculty spend a semester visiting at Princeton, teaching one course. Short-term visiting faculty give lectures and participate in classes, colloquia and informal discussions, during an intensive three- to five-day visit.
Deadline: October 5

Magic/Collaborative Grants (Round 1)
The Magic Project provides innovation grants from $5,000 to $50,000 to Princeton faculty whose ideas have the potential to change how the humanities are conceived and taught.
Deadline: October 28

Team Teaching Grants
Through the Magic Project, the Council invites pairs or groups of Princeton faculty members to apply for summer stipends of $7500 to develop team-taught undergraduate courses.
Deadline for Fall 2021 courses: December 7
Deadline for Spring 2022 courses: February 26

Old Dominion Research Professors
This program is designed to provide additional research time for Princeton faculty members and to enhance the humanities community more broadly. Full professors who have been at the University for a minimum of five years are invited to apply.
Deadline: February 1

Magic/Collaborative Grants (Round 2)
If funds are available after round 1.
Deadline: February 26

Visiting Faculty and Fellows
Short-Term only (Round 2).
Deadline: March 22

Nominations for Belknap Visitors in the Humanities
The public lecture program recognizes highly distinguished individuals in the arts and letters. Belknap Visitors spend an intensive day on campus.
