Philip Pettit, the Laurance S. Rockefeller University Professor of Politics and the University Center for Human Values, been named a Companion of the Order of Australia.
Pettit was recognized for “eminent service to philosophy through contributions to moral and political theory, as a distinguished academic, and as a leader of public debate on social, economic and environmental issues.”
The award was announced Monday, June 12, as part of the Queen’s Birthday Honours List.
Pettit, who has taught political theory and philosophy at Princeton since 2002, is also the Distinguished University Professor of Philosophy at the Australian National University, Canberra.
