The second Fall 2019 Gauss Seminar in Criticism will be delivered by Michael Hardt, Professor of Literature at Duke University. The title of his visit is “Globalization and Resistance.”
On October 1, 2019, the first of two Gauss Seminars in Criticism for Fall 2019 featured Naomi Klein (Rutgers University) in conversation with Keeanga-Yamahtta Taylor (African American Studies). The Seminar was entitled, “A Call to Action: The (Burning) Case for a Green New Deal.”

On February 27 and 28, 2019, Fred Moten, a poet and scholar working in black studies, poetics, and critical theory, delivered the Spring 2019 Gauss Seminars in Criticism comprising a public lecture and a faculty seminar under the general title of “The Poetics of Violence.”
