Translating Shakespeare into any language comes with its own set of challenges. Crom Saunders, associate professor at the American Sign Language program of Columbia College, will discuss his experiences translating the full canon of Shakespeare’s writings into American Sign Language (ASL) and the unique nature of this work and how the culture and lexicon of ASL affects this process. Saunders will also discuss the philosophy behind his translation choices and his research techniques.
