SUMMARY:Siren Song: Understanding Pakistan Through Its Women Singers
DESCRIPTION:Join the Program in Gender and Sexuality Studies as renowned journalist Raza Ahmed Rumi\, Professor of Human Rights at Hunter College\, joins GSS Professor Fawzia Afzal-Khan to discuss her NEH-sponsored award-winning short documentary film and her book on the same topic: “Siren Song: Understanding Pakistan Through Its Women Singers”. \nThe evening will feature a film screening and discussion\, followed by a concert performed by Fawzia (vocals) Mike Lukshis on tablas\, Rohan Prabhudesai on the harmonium\, and Dr Nasir Naqvi on bass. \nA light reception will follow the event.
