SUMMARY:Juntas Más Libres: Art and Anti-Punitive Feminism in Latin America
DESCRIPTION:Join us for the screening and Q&A of “Juntas Más Libres\,” a transdisciplinary and collaborative performance between Pájarxs entre Púas Foundation and incarcerated and formerly incarcerated women from the Centro de Cumplimiento Penitenciario Femenino de Valparaíso\, prison in Chile. The performance puts in conversation prisons with the outside world. Through audiovisual fragments\, original songs\, sounds\, and dance\, the performance addresses gender violence\, difficulties of life in prisons\, motherhood behind bars\, while reimagining social transformation outside carceral logics. The performance incorporates the collaboration of the Valparaíso band\, Trappo\, and the singer-songwriter Mon Laferte. \nPájarxs entre Púas is a Chilean feminist and anti-punitive foundation that supports women and sexual dissidence in prisons and after their release in Valparaíso city. The organization problematizes the carceral logic of punishment and social reinsertion by advocating for social cohesion and repair through the arts and cultures. Learn more about this collective.
