DESCRIPTION:In this Faber Lecture\, artist Cameron Rowland discusses how the property relation of the enslaved included and exceeded that of chattel and real estate and how plantation mortgages exemplify the ways in which the value of people who were enslaved\, the land they were forced to labor on\, and the houses they were forced to maintain were mutually constitutive. \nCameron Rowland is an American artist\, chosen as a MacArthur Fellow in 2019.  Rowland’s art has been featured at Museum of Modern Art and the Museum of Contemporary Art\, Los Angeles\, among others. Rowland’s artwork focuses on critiquing systems and institutions of racial capitalism. \nFunding provided by the Eberhard L.
