A Conversation on Spirit with Robert Pogue Harrison and Christy Wampole
October 23, 2025 · 4:30 pm—6:30 pm · 105 Chancellor Green

European literature, philosophy, politics, and ecology are haunted by a variety of spirits: the world spirit, the spirit of the laws, the Holy Spirit, the spirit of revolution, the spirit of nature. Robert Harrison (Stanford) and Christy Wampole (Princeton) will discuss the omnipresence of spirit in European thought, in its more historical guise as Zeitgeist or the spirit of the times and its more natural guise as the Earth Spirit.
