DESCRIPTION:Humanities and Mobility\nThe Humanities Council’s kick-off event features a wide-ranging conversation about central issues in our research\, teaching\, and intellectual life. \nA variety of phenomena are ripe for exploration: the mobility of human beings\, ideas\, ideologies\, texts\, images\, or material objects through space or time; political or revolutionary movements; obstructions to mobility; bodily movement\, disability\, or different mobilities. What and how we\, as human beings\, move; and what moves us\, as humans. \nOur speakers are distinguished Princeton scholars whose work represents different approaches and historical periods. \nWendy Laura Belcher\, Comparative Literature and African American Studies\n“Are We Global Yet? Africa and the Future of the Humanities”\n \nJoão Biehl\, Anthropology\n“Transported by the Humanities of the Unlettered” \nZahid Chaudhary\, English\n“On the Mobility of Lies\, Big and Small” \nJudith Hamera\, Dance and American Studies\n“Unruly Humanists\, Moving Selves” \nModerator: Esther Schor\, English; Chair\, Humanities Council \nOpen to the public.
