Professors of Journalism - Benefactors

Princeton's journalism program is made possible by three generous donors, whom we gratefully acknowledge.

Edwin F. Ferris graduated in 1899 and became a New York Herald journalist. His bequest in 1957 established the Ferris Professorship in Journalism [*].

In 1984, Harold W. McGraw, Jr. '40, chair emeritus of McGraw-Hill, endowed the McGraw Professorship in Writing [◊] to acknowledge the importance of writing in all fields.

Most recently, a gift of the E. Franklin Robbins Trust, in honor of the late William G. Michaelson '59 and his daughter, Robin L. Michaelson '89, established the Robbins Professorship of Writing [∆].

On the roster of past professors, holders of each chair are designated by the corresponding symbol.
